LED Lighting
Depending on your circumstances, installing a solar array at your home or business may be an excellent opportunity to consider. If you’re considering a solar installation, it is imperative that you understand your current rate. Georgia Power offers several different rate structures that will provide energy savings from solar production differently.
Georgia Power purchases renewable energy from eligible providers on a first-come, first-serve basis until the Georgia Public Service Commission reaches a specific amount set of the cumulative generating capacity of all renewable sources. Georgia Power will purchase solar energy through the renewable energy resources tariff at the company’s Solar Avoided Cost rate that the Commission approved in Docket No. 16573.
LED lamps have an incredibly long lifespan. For example, a standard incandescent light bulb will last anywhere between 750 to 2,000 hours, and on average, a fluorescent lamp will get you about 20,000 hours. However, some LED lamps can last for as long as 100,000 hours. Not only does its long life mean that you won’t need to buy very many of them, but it also means you can cut down on labor costs as you won’t need to pay anyone to keep an eye on them or change them out for a very long time.
And when a LED lamp comes to the end of its very long life, it does not automatically burn out like an incandescent lamp. Instead, the LEDs just start to operate at a lower energy level, and the lamp loses some of its brightness.
Another feature of an LED lamp that helps it last longer is its durability. LEDs can withstand more than incandescent and fluorescent bulbs because they are not made from fragile materials like glass. Transportation and roadways are examples of where LEDs are used since vibrations are not an issue. Plus, LED lamps are not broken easily in shipment or during installation.
LED lighting is environmentally friendly. That is because an LED lamp is free of hazardous chemicals, compared to fluorescent bulbs that include mercury and need to be disposed of carefully. Nearly 95 percent of all LED bulbs are recyclable, meaning not having any hazardous material.
